MOSCOW, MARCH 16 (RIA Novosti) - Staffer of the Russian Audit Chamber Sergei Abramov was appointed prime minister of Chechnya instead of Anatoly Popov, a source in the Audit Chamber reported.

32-year-old Abramov headed the inspectorate on Chechnya in the Audit Chamber and checked the spending of budgetary money in the Chechen Republic, including payments of compensations for lost housing.

Before his new appointment Abramov was finance minister of Chechnya.

Former federal minister on the affairs of Chechnya Stanislav Ilyasov earlier told RIA Novosti that Abramov would be the Chechen prime minister and called him a "good professional." Former prime minister of Chechnya Anatoly Popov was dismissed from his post. Last fall he was hospitalized and then went on leave for many months not beginning to work.

First deputy prime minister, finance minister Eli Isayev fulfilled the duties of the Chechen prime minister.
