BAKU, March 16, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- The situation in Adzharia (the partial blockade of the autonomy, in particular the Batumi port, by the central Georgian authorities) will not influence the transit of the Azeri oil via the ports of Georgia, Khoshbakht Yusif-zade, vice-president of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (GNKAR) told journalists.

"We deliver 80 percent of our oil to the Georgian port Poti and 20 percent to Batumi. If difficulties arise we will deliver the latter also to Poti, Mr. Yusif-zade said.

He also pointed out that the situation in Adzharia does not worry the GNKAR as far as the construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline is concerned. "The situation which has been observed for two days cannot cause anxiety.
