    ANTI-CRISIS CENTER ON SITUATION IN ADZHARIA STARTS WORKING IN GEORGIA

    TBILISI, March 15 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian prime minister Zurab Zhvania reported to journalists in Poti (Western Georgia) that the anti-crisis center on the situation in Adzharia established under the decision of the Georgian leadership on March 15 and which he was instructed to manage started its work.

    He reported that "specific instructions were already given to various 'power' ministers who started implementing them." The premier indicated that under instructions of the Georgian president "special means of control was established over air, marine traffic in the direction of Adzharia, as well as the customs control." According to Zurab Zhvania, "those measures were taken in order to prevent large amounts of armaments entering the territory of Adzharia as happened in the recent period." Zhvania indicated that their utmost objective was to prevent conflicts in connection with the situation in Adzharia and to put an end to uncontrolled equipment with armaments of local formations in the territory of the autonomy which unfortunately was taking place until recently." The prime minister reported that on Monday he had a telephone conversation with Aslan Abashidze, head of Adzharia. The premier indicated that "he, similar to the Georgian president expressed his readiness to meet with the head of Adzharia and to start a dialogue but Aslan Adbashidze at the moment refrained from such meetings."
