MOSCOW, March 15, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- Georgia does not see legal obstacles for closing borders of Adzharia (an autonomous republic within Georgia).

As it was elucidated by Georgia's Ambassador Konstantin Kemularia at a press conference on Monday in Moscow "the air space is the prerogative of the central authorities in line with the international law." The ground border with Turkey is the domain of the international relations between Georgia and Turkey. This issue is to be tackled against this background," the Ambassador stressed.

He also noted that Georgia has sufficient naval forces to close the port of Batumi and that the license issued to the Adzharskiye Airlines expired and was suspended.

At the same time the ambassador stressed that at present all the transport hubs of Adzharia are operating and Tbilisi is not going to take any measures prior to today's night.
