MOSCOW, March 15, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Voting at all the 153 polling stations abroad has been recognised valid, Chairman of the Duma international affairs committee Konstantin Kosachev told reporters on Monday.

He specified that the turnout at the elections amounted to 273,000 Russian citizens. He stressed that voters were more active at the presidential elections (by 5-7%) than at the December 2003 parliamentary elections. He added that over 20% of Russians eligible to vote had come to polling stations.

Mr. Kosachev also explained that it was still early to talk about the outcome of the elections. "Information from these polling stations is being delivered to the Central Election Commission and is still in processing," he said.
