"Georgia does not intend to introduce any tanks into Adzharia," he said prior to the beginning of the extraordinary government session which plans to discuss the situation in this Georgia's autonomy.
"But the central authorities will do their utmost for Adzharia to be a normal autonomy with all the ensuing rights," the premier noted.
Mr. Zhvania has not excluded, the Novosti-Georgia agency reports, that at the session of the government an issue of imposing economic sanctions on Adzharia will be put on the agenda.
Over the last few days the confrontation between Tbilisi and Batumi (the capital of Adzharia) has reached its peak after the president of Georgia, Saakashvili who is making a tour of his republic on the eve of parliamentary elections slated for March 28 was not admitted to the territory of Adzharia by a group of armed men.
