    PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, MARCH 14, (RIA NOVOSTI) - Vote counting is over on the federal presidential poll in the Kamchatka peninsula, Russian Far East. Incumbent Vladimir Putin has scored a landslide 71.83%, reports the regional election commission.

    The other hopefuls are desperately behind - Nikolai Kharitonov 9.25%, Irina Hakamada 5.05%, Oleg Malyshkin 2.59%, and Sergei Mironov a token 0.89%. Another 4.49% voted against all.

    The turnout made 57.84%, as against 63.81% in the latest presidential poll, of 2000.

    The region had a total 296 polling stations for a franchised population of 260,000.
