MOSCOW, MARCH 14, 2004, RIA NOVOSTI - Russia's Central Electoral Commission expects no discrepancies in the results of official and independent vote count, Commission Secretary Olga Zastrozhnaya said as she spoke to reporters Sunday.

An independent vote tally is being prepared by candidate promoters and community activists who have set up an independent observer center at Moscow's House of Journalists.

Zastrozhnaya spoke against the idea of making public the results of exit polls before polling stations closed down throughout the Russian territory. She told the media that the Central Electoral Commission had concluded a "gentlemen's agreement" with campaign participants that no exit-poll figures would be disclosed as long as the voting continued.
