PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, MARCH 13 (RIA Novosti) - Early presidential elections have ended in the Kamchatka region, reports the regional election commission. (The Kamchatka region is located in the Russian Far East - Ed.) 767 voters cast their ballots at local border outposts, meteorological stations, reindeer-breeding farms, mines and remote villages.
4,809 sailors voted on the high seas.
259,575 voters are registered in the Kamchatka region. 176 polling stations will be opened all over the region; and another 40 polling stations will open aboard ships in the open sea.
All polling stations are ready to admit voters; they have been checked by police officers and secret-service operatives; moreover, they are being guarded round the clock, election commission people said in conclusion.
