"Here, the main problem is the one that Ivan Rybkin, who refused to participate in elections, faced us with," the CEC head said.
In his words, not all district election commissions have crossed out Rybkin's name from the ballot papers. "All the rest in regard to preparation for elections has been done," Mr. Veshnyakov said.
Ivan Rybkin, one of the seven presidential candidates, withdrew his candidacy last week. Mr. Rybkin explained it by the fact that he was not given a possibility to hold election campaign, though Russian observers name other reasons. In their opinion, the former State Duma speaker who entered an alliance with notorious oligarch Boris Berezovsky, realized that he won't be a success at the elections.
