The ex-minister in the government of the Chechen separatists surrendered voluntarily to the republic's lawful authorities on March 8.
No criminal case was opened against Khambiyev, the prosecutor's office is only checking his activity. All orders issued and instructions given by him on the post of "Ichkeria's defense minister" will be thoroughly examined, the prosecutor said.
If no elements of grave and especially grave offenses are revealed in Khambiyev's actions he will be set free.
