MOSCOW, March 10, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Russian presidential plenipotentiary to the southern federal district Vladimir Yakovlev intends to borrow from Russian Minister for Chechnya Stanislav Ilyasov's experience in solving problems of the republic and the district.

"Yesterday, I had a talk with Mr. Ilyasov. We discussed a lot of things he did at the ministerial post and also prospects of the republic's development," Mr. Yakovlev told newsmen on Wednesday.

The plenipotentiary did not rule it out that Mr. Ilyasov would continue the work in the district, but stressed, "so far, we have to settle the existing problems, and after analysing, take personnel-related decisions." Mr. Yakovlev also said he had met his predecessor Viktor Kazantsev. "Such meetings are always a bit sad, but he took the news normally and promised to explain his view on the work in the district," said the plenipotentiary.

"Tomorrow, I will fly to Rostov-on-Don (administrative centre of the district) and hold a number of conferences at the place," said Mr. Yakovlev.
