GROZNY, March 10, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- Active militant Aslan Gazuyev, 24, was eliminated as a result of a special operation in Chechnya's Kurchaloi district. The militant was killed in a battle of Federal troops against the gang of warlord Shamkhan Mezhiyev, the staff of the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus told RIA Novosti.
The Russian Interior Ministry, Federal Security Service and President's Security Service are carrying out a series of joint special operations to eliminate militants. Gazuyev was killed in one of such operations RIA Novosti's interlocutor said.
