VYACHESLAV FETISOV: IT IS NECESSARY FOR RUSSIA TO DEVELOP CHILDREN'S SPORT

MOSCOW, March 10, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- At the congress of the Sportivnaya Rossia All-Russian sports society, which was convened in Moscow on Wednesday, this organization's chairman Vyacheslav Fetisov outlined the main directions of the development of sport in Russia.

In the famous ice-hockey player's opinion, first of all it is necessary to develop children's sport. It is also necessary to remember handicapped children and to draw them in sports activities, the head of Sportivnaya Rossia believes.

Fetisov said that "it is necessary for disabled children to participate in sports activities so that with the passing of time they could feel to be on a par with their healthy coevals." "Cases are known when handicapped children recovered through sports activities and became full and equal members of society." An agreement on interaction and cooperation between the Sportivnaya Rossia All-Russian sports society and the Russian defence sports-technical organization was signed at the congress.
