GEORGIA'S SUBSISTENCE LEVEL AMOUNTS TO 118.9 LARIS

TBILISI, March 9, 2004 - RIA Novosti. In January 2004, subsistence level for a working man amounted to 135.6 Laris ($1 equals 1.9 Laris), for an average consumer - 118.9 Laris, for a family of four - 235.9 Laris. In January 2004, subsistence level grew by 0.4% as compared to the previous month, and by 4.1% as compared to January 2003.

Subsistence level for Tbilisi residents is 3.4% more than the average national index, the Novosti-Georgia news agency reports referring to the State Statistics Department.

In January 2004, standard minimal wages amounted to 53.9 Laris, and 20 Laris for public sector workers.
