It became known about the victims - a woman in the Tsumadinsky district and two men in the Kurakhsky district - only today, when reports about the natural disaster came from 22 regions of the republic, the Dagestan headquarters of the Emergencies Ministry reported.
No exhaustive reports on the situation could be received from a number of other administrative territories as telephone communication was disrupted.
According to available information, considerable damage has been caused to housing, public health, social and cultural facilities, and to power transmission and communication lines. Repairs are hindered by bad weather. It started snowing heavily after the hurricane subsided. In some places the snow blanket is 70 to 100 cm thick. Roads are under snow, and repair teams cannot get to remote villages.
The emergency situation will be discussed on Wednesday, March 10, at a meeting of Dagestan's State Council, the headquarters said.
