IRAN FACES UNDERGROUND ELEMENT AGAIN

TEHRAN, March 8 (RIA Novosti) - An earthquake occurred in Iran's northeast province of Golestan. No victims or damage are reported yet.

The Tehran University's geophysical center said the magnitude of underground tremors whose epicenter was registered at 01:07a.m. Moscow time in the northeast of the Gorgan settlement was 4.9 on the Richter scale.

Practically all Iran's territory is in the seismo-active area. Tremors the magnitude of 3 plus on the Richter scale are registered daily.

As a result of a 6.3 magnitude earthquake that happened in the southeastern Iranian city of Bam on December 26, 2003, over 40,000 people died, more than 30,000 were injured. The city was almost razed to the ground.
