RUSSIANS WORKING IN CHINA PARTICIPATE IN EARLY PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

BEIJING, March 7. (RIA Novosti) -- In Liangyungan in the east of China, where the Tyanwan nuclear power plant is constructed with Russian assistance, Russian nationals have cast their votes in an early presidential elections in Russia.

The election, held at the polling station set up at the consulate general in Shanghai, has been well-arranged and brisk.

Russian specialists, technicians, engineers working on the construction of the nuclear power facility have participated in the vote held in the Chinese seaside city.

According to the election commission, the voter turnout has been 78 percent, or noticeably higher than at the elections to the fourth State Duma (the lower parliamentary chamber) last December.

Russians' voting returns in Liangyungan will become known on March 14 and be calculated coincidentally with the ballot papers received on the main day of elections.

The construction of the Tianwan power facility enters the final stage, RIA Novosti was told.
