PARIS, 6 March. (RIA Novosti correspondent Andrei Nizamutdinov). Terms and conditions of French-Russian cooperation to create a combat aircraft might be worked out in a few weeks, stated French defense minister Michelle Alliot-Marie in an interview to RIA Novosti.

She reminded that in 2002 French and Russian presidents "proposed to study possibilities of joint development of combat aircraft".

Alliot-Marie reported that "presently terms and conditions of that very promising cooperation were evaluated and might be worked out in the nest few weeks under the guidance of the two defense ministries"." She pointed out that the aviation area was one of the priorities of military and technical cooperation between France and Russia. As an example she reminded of the results of the work to develop a training MiG-AT aircraft as well as of the "helicopter construction projects under evaluation".

Michelle Alliot-Marie also reported that "the agreement on protection of intellectual property in the area of armaments was being finalized". In the opinion of the minister, that agreement "would create necessary legal frameworks to implement large projects" in the area of military and technical cooperation.
