30 KG OF HEROIN CONFISCATED AT TAJIK-AFGHAN BORDER

DUSHANBE, March 6 (RIA Novosti) - 30 kilograms of heroin were confiscated Saturday in Tajikistan on the border with Afghanistan, RIA Novosti was told in the press service of the Russian border guard group of the Federal Security Service in Tajikistan.

In the early hours of Saturday an armed smuggler who crossed the Pyandzh river was detained on the plain section of the Moscow border guard detachment (180 km to the south of Dushanbe). It was the result of a joint operation by Russian border guards serving to protect the Tajik-Afghan border, and Tajik interior ministry officers.

30 kilograms of heroin, a bag with marijuana, a Kalashnikov assault rifle with a magazine were found at the crossing point. The drug dealer turned to be a 25-year-old national of Tajikistan.
