GEORGIA: COMMUNISTS BEWAIL STALIN

TBILISI, MARCH 5, RIA NOVOSTI - Georgia's Communists commemorated Joseph Stalin on his 51st death anniversary with a rally in the heart of Gori, his native town.

Speakers evaluated prospects for the United Communist Party, in dire opposition to the regime, to campaign for a parliamentary poll of March 28.

"The current situation makes a parliamentary election absurd as President Mikhail Saakashvili does not reckon with the nation's opinions," said Panteleimon Giorgadze, party leader.
