MOSCOW, MARCH 5, RIA NOVOSTI - Rolf Ekeus, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities, is visiting Moscow, March 9 into 11. Russian diplomats will use the occasion to discuss ethnic Russians' plight in Central Asian and certain other CIS countries, says the Ministry of Foreign Affairs press and information department.
Ethnic Russians are fleeing post-Soviet Central Asia not merely because of its economic hardships-the Russian language is deliberately ousted from politics, social activism and culture, and Russians from the labour market. Extremists' religious intolerance is a no smaller danger.
The ministry calls all interested parties to pool efforts against those evils.
