    MOSCOW, MARCH 5. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- The State Duma has established the deputy association Science and High Technologies, made up of representatives of all the factions of the lower parliamentary chamber plus about 30 deputies with candidate- and doctor-of-science degrees. The group is led by Nobel Prize winner Zhores Alferov of the KPRF faction.

    Appearing on Friday at the first organisational get-together of the new deputy association, the renowned Russian scientist stressed the need of the earliest development in Russia of the high-tech industry, as well as the active use of the obtaining results of research in production.

    One of the foremost directions, in Alferov's opinion, should be the creation in Russia of updated production of electronic circuitry. Other directions should be biotechnology, the energy sector, environmental management and resource-saving.

    Participants also spoke up for the creation of a favourable climate for research enterprises.
