MOSCOW, March 5, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - The new government must make the judicial authorities independent not only in law, but also in reality, said new Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov while speaking in the State Duma.
"A normal development of the state is unthinkable without an effective judicial system. The fact that court trials, especially with regard to conflicts between companies, sometimes last for months weakens the participants in the hearings, and the companies sustain great losses. That's bad," he said.
Mr. Fradkov said, "much more attention should be paid," to the judicial system in the next few years.
