MOSCOW, March 5, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent) - The Prime Minister should be personally responsible for conducting reforms, believe Russian new Premier Mikhail Fradkov.

The main goal of the reforms is "to improve people's lives", he emphasized at the State Duma plenary session on Friday.

"The reform is so serious and its results are so much awaited that the Prime Minister should be personally engaged in it and be responsible for it, and this is what I am going to do in the near future," Fradkov announced.

He also emphasized the need to ensure the transparency of authorities.

"We should ensure not only timely informing of citizens on the government's activities, but also citizens' control over its work," the new Prime Minister believes.
