PRESIDENT PUTIN THANKS SOUTH KOREAN LEADERSHIP FOR MEMORIAL EVENTS

MOSCOW, March 5, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his sincere gratitude to the South Korean leadership, in particular, President No Mu-hyon, for the assistance in organizing and holding the events commemorating the 100th anniversary of the tragic death of Russian heroic ships, the Varyag cruiser and the Koreyets gunboat during the Russian-Japanese War (1904-1905).

According to the Russian leader, he regards this assistance as "one more evidence of positive development of Russian-South Korean relations." Vladimir Putin expressed gratitude to No Mu-hyon, the South Korean government and the city hall of Incheon, which hosted the memorial events, the presidential press service said on Friday.
