MOSCOW, March 5, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Central Election Commission (CEC) will meet on Friday to consider the readiness of the election commissions in two republics of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and the Republic of Altai.

Yesterday, CEC Chairman Alexander Veshnyakov said that during the session, members would hold a videoconference with representatives of Sakha and Altai to find out how they are preparing for the presidential elections.

The CEC members are paying special attention to the Republic of Altai, because its citizens will elect local self-government bodies as well as the Russian president.

The CEC will hear information about the efforts of the Foreign Ministry, the Defense Ministry, the Federal Security Service Frontier Service and the appropriate territorial election commissions to allow Russian citizens living outside Russia to vote.

Presidential campaign representatives of Sergei Mironov and Nikolai Kharitonov will also be registered at the session.
