MIKHAIL SAAKASHVILI: RUSSIA IS AZERBAIJAN, GEORGIA'S IMPORTANT PARTNER

BAKU, March 4, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Russia is Azerbaijan and Georgia's important partner, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili said at the joint press conference with his Azeri counterpart Ilkham Aliev on Thursday.

"I want to underline the importance of our relations with Russia" Saakashvili said pointing out warm relations between Russia and Azerbaijan.

According to him, Georgia has good relations with Russia, as well.

"We have already established interstate relations in spite of all problems, which cannot be solved in a day," the Georgian President stressed.

"We hope that Russia will be a most important and equal partner of the region as a whole," Saakshvili said.

In his words, Azerbaijan and Georgia should coordinate its actions in this sphere.

"We would like to take over many things from Azerbaijan," the Georgian leader noted.

Saakashvili also comes out for "equal partnership" with the USA.
