MOSCOW, MARCH 4, RIA NOVOSTI - Sergei Glazyev is formally staying leader of the Rodina group in the State Duma, parliament's lower house. Tonight's group session gathered a mere twenty MPs, whole heated two-hour debates led to nothing.
The group made only one decision-to gather again tomorrow afternoon, half past two, Mr. Glazyev said to the media.
A Rodina majority-22 out of a total 38-demanded Glazyev dismissed from leadership in this afternoon's roll-call vote. They want Dmitri Rogozin to replace him, and Sergei Baburin promoted to Duma Vice-Speaker, Mr. Rogozin, currently Vice-Speaker, said to Novosti.
The group will forward its proposals to the Duma procedural committee for approval.
Sergei Glazyev does not think his deposition is valid. It will not be legal even if his opponents collect signatures in its favour, he says.
