TBILISI, March 4 (RIA Novosti) - Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili's official visit to Italy is planned for this year, the Italian ambassador to Georgia, Fabricio Romano told journalists on Thursday.
He said that the parties are considering a schedule and a date of the visit that is appropriate for Italy and Georgia.
Mr. Romano stressed that the aim of the visit is the further development of Georgian-Italian cooperation in diverse directions including the economy and culture.
Mr. Romano noted that Italy is watching developments in Georgia and the new Georgian president's political steps, which have already drawn attention of the political world.
