ULYANOVSK, March 3, 2004. (RIA Novosti). The Russian car factory in Ulyanovsk has delivered the first lot of 421 cars for the sum of 2.5 million dollars to Iraq, the factory's press service said on Wednesday. The factory produces UAZ off-roads. The cars delivered to Iraq are meant for the Iraqi national self-defense forces.

This is UAZ's first major delivery to Iraq over the recent years, the press service stressed.

Last year the factory conducted negotiations on the sale of its products to Iraq. However, the achieved agreements were not implemented because of the military operation in Iraq.

Now UAZ has resumed cooperation as part of programs on Iraq's recovery. In 2004 the factory is to supply several thousand cars to Iraq.
