    GEORGIAN MINISTER ON CONFLICTS SETTLEMENT HOLDS NEGOTIATIONS IN MOSCOW

    MOSCOW, March 3, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Valery Loschinin received Georgian State Minister on the settlement of conflicts Goga Khvaindrava. In the course of the meeting the Georgian side confirmed its devotion to political settlement of conflicts with its territories Abkhazia and South Ossetia, the Russian Foreign Ministry disclosed to RIA Novosti.

    According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the parties considered the issues, concerning the practical fulfillment of the agreements, reached in the course of Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili's recent visit to Russia. In particular, they discussed the renewal of activity of the joint working groups on the return of refugees from Abkhazia, who fled the self-proclaimed republic during the armed conflict in early 1990s, as well as the restoration of the railway connection between Georgia and Russia via the main Abkhazian city of Sukhumi and the modernization of the largest Georgian Hydro-Electric plant on the Inguri river, which had been constructed in the Soviet times.
