NOVO-OGAREVO, March 3, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has demanded that the problem of rendering qualified medical assistance to injured servicemen should be solved immediately.

"Quite often servicemen stay at a military hospital not because their condition does not allow discharging them, but because the decision on prosthesis is lingering," the President pointed out at the meeting with acting Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliyev.

He believes that delays in solving this problem are unacceptable.

Nurgaliyev reported to the President that the measures to rehabilitate servicemen wounded in hot spots was carried out in full volume.

Putin pointed out that some time before he had instructed the government to think of additional measures to support those wounded in hot spots and on support to their families.

Nurgaliyev specifically pointed to the need of target aid to the families of killed servicemen. "At present they are 99," he added.

Apart from this, servicemen of the army and law-enforcement structures at hospital have now received an opportunity to study university programs on-line, the acting minister said.
