    GROZNY, March 3, 2004. (RIA Novosti). The federal forces liquidated two militant bases in Chechnya, the regional staff of the counter-terrorist operation in the North Caucasus told RIA Novosti.

    One of the bases placing 20 people was discovered near Ackhoi-Martan district center to the south-west of Grozny. The approaches to the base were mined. The base contained a cache with 1.7 kilograms of TNT, 2,500 cartridges, four hand grenades and two electric detonators.

    Another base was found near the village of Serzhen-Yurt in the Shalinsky district to the south-east of Grozny. It contained five blindages placing 30 people, a kitchen and three grounds for tents.

    Sappers discovered a cache with food, military uniform, over 1,000 cartridges and ten electric detonators under the floor of one of the blindages.
