INTERIOR MINISTRY TO PLACE ALL POLLING STATIONS UNDER 24HR SURVEILLANCE

MOSCOW, March 3, 2004 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Interior Ministry will place all polling stations under 24 hour surveillance, the deputy interior minister of Russia, Col. Sergei Schadrin, said at a press conference in Moscow on Wednesday.

"There are 94,000 polling stations in Russia. The militia will place each polling station under 24 hour surveillance from the moment ballots are brought there," Col. Schadrin said.

The Russian presidential elections will be held on Sunday, March 14.
