PUTIN HOPES FOR CONSTRUCTIVE COOPERATION BETWEEN PARLIAMENT AND NEW GOVERNMENT

NOVO-OGAREVO, March 3, 2004. (RIA Novosti). Vladimir Putin expressed hope for constructive cooperation between the parliament and new cabinet of ministers.

"I hope it will be a good start of constructive cooperation between the parliament and the future government," the Russian President said at the meeting with candidate for premiership Mikhail Fradkov.

"I spoke to some State Duma deputies. They expressed positive response to the consultations. I hope it will be a good beginning," the head of state said.

Mikhail Fradkov informed the President on his consultations in the State Duma. "In my opinion, we had a very serious, interesting and useful conversation," he said.

"Deputies were interested in vital issues in economic and social spheres and gave their ideas on the organization of the governmental work in order to fulfill the tasks of the president's state of the nation address, the GDP doubling and the struggle against poverty," Mikhail Fradkov noted.
