2ND RUSSIAN ENERGY FORUM OPENS

MOSCOW, March 3, 2004. (RIA Novosti) - The second Russian energy forum, "Russia's Fuel and Energy Complex in the 21st Century," has opened. From March 3 to 5, representatives of the country's energy companies, jointly with parliamentarians and members of the state power bodies, will discuss the situation in the fuel and energy sphere and work out recommendations for improving the state policy in it.

The forum's draft recommendations point out that the most important task for ensuring Russia's economic security, its energy independence and the stable supply of the country with energy resources is to fulfil Russia's energy strategy for the period of up to 2020 which was adopted in 2003. The document notes the necessity of "a serious work on forming a legal basis in the fuel and energy sphere."
