PYATIGORSK, March 3, 2004 (RIA Novosti) -- Federal Security Service (FSB) officers have eliminated a participant in illegal armed formations in the republic of Ingushetia bordering on Chechnya.
Akhmed Shamsadov, 31, was blocked in the city of Nazran in his car, sources in the republic's law-enforcement bodies told RIA Novosti. While FSB officers were trying to arrest him, the militant opened fire and was killed in the shootout that followed. Two hand grenades, a gas pistol adjusted for firing live cartridges and a homemade knife were found on him.
