KALININGRAD, MARCH 2 (RIA Novosti correspondent Anatoli Nilov) - If Mikhail Fradkov's prime-ministerial nomination is approved, it will not take him too long to get accustomed to new duties, expects Vaghit Alekperov, president of the LUKoil petroleum mammoth.

"I have been long acquainted with Mikhail Fradkov, and I know him for a fine professional. He's a good expert, and knows inside out what is going on in Russia. I don't think he will be slow in getting accustomed to the prime-ministerial job if the State Duma, [parliament's lower house], approves his nomination, he said to newsmen.

Mr. Alekperov is in Kaliningrad, administrative centre of Russia's Baltic exclave, for an official commissioning of the D 6 oilfield on the Baltic shelf.

In yesterday's written message to the Duma, President Vladimir Putin nominated Mikhail Fradkov Prime Minister. The house will debate the matter Friday, March 5.

Mr. Fradkov met with parliamentary groups for consultations today.
