MOSCOW, MARCH 2. /RIA NOVOSTI / -- The faction of the Russian communist party has refused to discuss the candidacy of Mikhail Fradkov for the post of the Russian prime minister, Fradkov told reporters.

"The KPRF representatives have said that they have their own presidential candidate, Kharitonov, and their own team for the cabinet", said Fradkov, proposed by the president as the head of government.

Today Fradkov spent only a few minutes at the sitting of the KPRF faction. After hearing the communists' decision not to consider his candidature, he left the hall.

In turn, communist leader Gennadi Zyuganov said their position was due to their lack of knowledge about Fradkov's programme.

"Neither the economic nor another programme has been presented to us", Zyuganov said. This is why all talk between the faction and the candidate for premiership is "nonsensical".

The communist leader also said that his faction is going to continue consultations after the March 14 presidential election.
