CFE TREATY TO BE DISCUSSED DURING THE VISIT OF TWO RUSSIAN MINISTERS TO PARIS

MOSCOW, March 2 (RIA Novosti). The agenda of the March 4-5 visit of acting Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov to France includes the discussion of the treaty on conventional forces in Europe (CFE). Oleg Belous, director of the First European Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told journalists that Ivanov would attend the session of the Russo-French Security Co-operation Council, set up by decision of the two presidents

In accordance with the council's status, acting Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov will attend its session, too.

According to the ministry spokesman, the agenda of the third session includes discussion of the European security system, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and all other issues bearing on the security system. The sides will also address Russia-EU and Russia-NATO interaction and spotlight the situation in Iraq, Iran and North Korea.

The Russian ministers of foreign affairs and defence will meet with President Jacques Chirac.
