MOSCOW, March 2 (RIA Novosti) - Russia will supply S-300 air defense missile systems to Belarus in the coming six months, a high-placed source in the Defense Ministry of Russia said on Tuesday.

"The military departments of Russia and Belarus agreed the other day that Russia would supply several air defense missile complexes within the framework of military and technical cooperation. The S-300 systems are expected to be supplied to Belarus in about six months free of charge; however, all their pre-export preparation, including the work to put them into operation, will be carried out by Russian specialists on the territory of Russia at the expense of Belarus, the source said. "The systems will be transferred without any residual value," the source specified.

According to the source, once they are transferred to the Belarussian side, the S-300 systems will be placed on combat duty within the framework of the CIS united air defenses in the western direction.
