MOSCOW, MARCH 2 (RIA Novosti) - Seven Russian citizens, detained by the American military during the anti-terror operation in Afghanistan in 2002 and recently extradited to Russia, have been placed in the North Caucasian pre-trial detention centers. This information was disclosed by an executive of the Russian justice ministry.

According to him, an accusation has already been filed against these persons, and the necessary investigation is going on. It is not reported what are the charges against these people who were kept before the repatriation at the US Guantanamo military base in Cuba.

The sources at the law enforcement bodies of Russia's Southern federal district, which includes the North Caucasian region, told RIA Novosti that the former Guantanamo prisoners were placed in solitary cells.

The Americans extradited their prisoners to Russia on February 28 under the agreement reached between the Russian Prosecutor General's Office and the US Department of Justice.
