MOSCOW, March 2, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- The faction of the Russian communist party has refused to discuss the candidacy of Mikhail Fradkov for the post of the Russian prime minister, Mr. Fradkov told reporters.
"The KPRF representatives have said that they have their own presidential candidate, Kharitonov, and their own team for the cabinet," said Mr. Fradkov, nominated by the president as the head of government.
Today Mr. Fradkov spent only a few minutes at the sitting of the KPRF faction. After hearing the communists' decision not to consider his candidature, he left the hall.
