MOSCOW, March 2 (RIA Novosti's Alexandra Chebanu) - The Assembly of Russian Business Communities has called on businessmen to come to the polling stations on Election Day March 14. Irina Gorbulina, president of the Russian Academy of Business and Enterprise, said at the session in Moscow that business must not keep away from "crucial events in the life of the country."

"Business must not be limited to profit-making," she said. "The state and businessmen can and must become partners in attaining the strategic goals of national development." Gorbulina believes that such partnership can be based on the common desire to create "a highly effective economy and raising the living standards of all citizens." The president suggested "a concept of social responsibility" as the cornerstone of such partnership.

"The creation of a system of socially responsible enterprise and of a positive image of business in Russia is the priority goal of the Assembly," said Irina Gorbulina.
