The information committee of the local government reported that the conference would be attended by the head of the Russian State Committee for the Control of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, Vladimir Cherkesov, and Sergei Kiriyenko, the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian president in the Volga Federal District.
Delegations from other regions of the Russian Federation and the Commonwealth of Independent States, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Security Committee Mikhail Grishankov and Flavio Mirella, the regional representative of the UN Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention in Russia and Belarus, are expected to take part in the conference.
Cooperation of law enforcement bodies in countering illegal trafficking of narcotics and psychotropic substances and perfection of preventive measures against drug addiction and drug related crimes are topics on the agenda for the conference.
The conference's program also provides for a plenary meeting and working in sections.
