MOSCOW, MARCH 1 (RIA NOVOSTI) - Mikhail Fradkov is ready for work as the prime minister.

On Monday, after the second round of talks with the parliamentary majority, Russian President Vladimir Putin has submitted for consideration to the State Duma (the lower chamber of Russian parliament) the candidature of Mikhail Fradkov for the post of the chairman of the Russian government.

"Several days ago the president had a talk with me on this issue. He proposed the post to me and I agreed. I am ready to work. There should always be a man ready to carry out serious instructions. That's how I see it," Mr. Fradkov said told over the phone from Brussels to the Russian NTV television company.

Mr. Fradkov's previous position was that of Russia's permanent representative in the European Union.

Very soon I will fly to Moscow for "consultations and confirmation by the State Duma," Fradkov said.

He is expected to arrive in Moscow on Monday, RIA Novosti was told at the Russian mission in the EU.
