RUSSIAN ACTING DEFENSE MINISTER TO GO TO FRANCE ON MARCH 3

MOSCOW, March 1, 2004. (RIA Novosti) -- Russian acting Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov will go on a routine trip to France on Wednesday, March 3, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"Ivanov is to hold several private and extended meetings during the visit. At first, Sergei Ivanov will meet with French Defense Minister Michele Alliot-Marie in Saint-Jean-de-Luz," the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

After that Sergei Ivanov and his French counterpart will return to Paris to participate in a meeting with the Russian and French Foreign Ministers.

The talks will focus on a wide range of issues, in particular, international security, counter-terrorism and prospects for Russian-French military-technical cooperation in the sphere of personnel training, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
