RUSSIA WILL CONTRIBUTE ABOUT $ 1 MILLION TO THE IAEA OFF-BUDGET FUND

MOSCOW, March 1, 2004. (RIA Novosti correspondent) -- This year Russia will make a contribution of 27 million roubles (about $950,000) to the off-budget fund of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

According to the information released by the government information department Monday, instructions to this effect have been given to the Russian Atomic Energy Ministry by Victor Khristenko, the Russian Acting Prime Minister.

The Russian contribution's aim is to give organizational support to the IAEA international project on innovative nuclear reactors.

The Atomic Ministry has also been instructed to earmark 4.9 million roubles (about $173,000) for financing research conducted in Russia within the framework of this project.
