MOSCOW, March 1 (RIA Novosti) - The Russian Embassy in Qatar does not have any information confirming that the Russian citizens detained in connection with the murder of Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev may be released on Monday.

"We have heard about it from the same sources as you did, from the media," an embassy staff member told RIA Novosti on the telephone. "But we do not have any official information about this."

Earlier on Monday, Al Jazeera reported that Qatar authorities intended to release two Russian secret service officers who are suspected of being involved in the murder of Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev, the former vice president of Chechnya.

According to Al Jazeera, they will be released within the next few hours.

Simultaneously, said Al Jazeera, Russia will release two athletes from Qatar who were detained in Moscow on Saturday. They were members of the judo team.

Zelimkhan Yandarbiyev was killed in a car bombing on February 13 in Doha.
